New Geothermal Projects Planned in Europe
As start-up costs for geothermal fall, the technology is gaining favor in Europe with the steep price increases of oil and greenhouse gas emission concerns. According to a new analysis from Frost & Sullivan, although global energy use from geothermal sources today only amounts to less than 1%, its previously limited use is attributed to the high start-up costs.
Thirty Reasons Why Organizations Must Get Off Petroleum Now
Don't get me wrong -- I am very concerned about global warming and climate change. In the long run, that's one of the most serious challenges that humans face as a species. But in the short run, the world is no longer able to produce petroleum in sufficient volume to satisfy its demand. Soon it will not be able to produce petroleum in sufficient volume to satisfy its needs.
Geothermal Energy Growth Continues, Industry Survey Reports
A survey released by the Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) shows continued growth in the number of new geothermal power projects under development in the United States, a 20% increase since January of this year. The report identified 103 projects underway in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The Global Need for University / Industry Cleantech Transfer
The pace at which universities and academic institutions are developing new technologies aimed at solving the world's energy and climate change challenges is truly amazing. Many of the cleantech ventures that are being developed at universities around the world right now have incredible potential, yet barriers to commercialization prevent most from being realized. While some top U.S. universities have tech transfer specialists on staff and departments dedicated to the commercialization of research, many others, especially in the BRIC nations (Brazil, India and China), don't have readily available access to investors and industry.
